Its botanical name is Helianthus stem and consists of a fairly robust (no branches, but focuses all its energy into producing a single stem with one flower), leaves large, oval and serrated edges, and a large flower, similar to a daisy, very large, even in the smaller varieties.

It can grow into different types of sunflowers:
- Helianthus decapetalus. This is a summer plant that can keep flowering until late autumn if the weather is mild.
- Helianthus multiflorus. Robust and vigorous plant that grows best in moist soils and
permeable.
- Helianthus angustifolius. This variety prefers moist, fertile soil.
- Helianthus atrorubens. Its flower is very ephemeral, but abundant, and golden yellow (about 8 cm in diameter). Must be located in full sun.

Care
Light is fundamental. The sunflower needs a warm location, sunny and sheltered from the wind. It is resistant to any temperature, but not frost.

We must thoroughly water the plant during growth and flowering stage, but always avoiding stagnation of water. Keep in mind that they are very susceptible to stem rot by over watering.
