Decoration Techniques using Rags

Here are two of the easiest decorative painting techniques, which besides being rapidly carried out, are also extremely cheap, and you do not need any special equipment: just a cloth or plastic bags.

Both decorative technique as the other is suitable to be applied on walls and furniture can also be taken into account when preparing the base layer for a stencil. Unlike foam technique, in which the glaze or glaceador apply with a sponge on a coat of primer, in this case the drawing is a partially removing a layer of glaze was applied on a smooth base.

What you need:

* Wipes lint-free cotton (for example, an old sheet).
* Plastic bags.
* 2.5-liter enamel, acrylic or synthetic satin.
* 2 gallons of linseed oil with drying.
* 1 liter of solvent.
* Oil painting artist, to color the glaze.
* Brush 100 mm.
* Brush tap.
* Roller and bucket.
* Cube.
* Masking tape.
* Scissors.
* Paper for testing.
* These amounts are sufficient for a room 4 x 5 m.

Before you begin, prepare:

* Walls should be clean and dry, you have to fill cracks and peeling, wash the walls from bottom to top with water and detergent to air the room well and let the walls dry completely.
* If you want to paint wood furniture, wash them and then sanded with a sandpaper fine grain, to prepare the surface before applying a glossy enamel.
* Protection: Use masking tape to protect the light switches, sockets and the angles between walls and ceilings.
* Based Paint: Apply the primer to the walls with a roller. Are well covered for the ideal is to work on diagonal.
* Preparation of rags: The fabric used should not loose lint and must be clean and dry. Must be cut into squares the size of a pocket handkerchief, using an old sheet, tear the fabric into strips of 40 cm. wide and then tear these strips into squares. Prepare many rags in order to have enough to finish the job.
* After all this, and you can start to work, knowing that both finishes made with a cloth, like those used plastic bags, multiple effects can be achieved: from a drawing fine and subtle pastel colors on a base white to drawings marked and coarse texture, with the use of two different colors.
* The thicker they are the rags or bags, the more marked is the picture obtained. In both cases, the secret is to work for small areas and in this way, the veil is always kept fresh and the tracks are marked limpidly. For this reason, it is desirable to have someone close to applying the glaze while working with the cloth or bag, anyway, a person can work alone if you do follow a certain method.
* The important thing is to keep the same thickness of rags or bags until you have completed all the work. In both techniques are part of the veil is withdrawn without following a definite order, so it is important to maintain the same pressure.
* As for the choice of color, it is unlimited, but the traditional combination is a veil a few tones darker than the base paint. If you want a more exaggerated contrast, use a brightly colored base and a darker glaze, and brown over a yellow, or green or dark blue on a white base. To achieve a coordinated, should select colors to repeat the upholstery, curtains or carpet.
* You have to try different types of tissue (where lint-free). Cut scraps the size of a pocket handkerchief and color testing over paper until you achieve the desired effect.
* Plastic bags produce a less delicate than rags, since plastic does not absorb so much as the fabric paint.
* In this case you need to try doing different pressures. Pressing hard on the picture will lose definition, but if the pressure is too soft, the bag will not drag enough glaze to create a drawing well clear. Whatever the design chosen, try to maintain the same pressure for all the work.

Paint rags

Preparation:

* Put a little oil painting artist in a bowl and add a little solvent to dilute it. To obtain the desired color, you may have to use several colors.
* To clarify the color add a touch of white to darken it, add black.
* To throw the linseed oil in a pan and add the prepared mixture.
* Slowly go throwing the solvent until the mixture has the consistency of light cream. It is very difficult to re-obtain the same color, so you have to prepare enough (at least two liters) to decorate the entire room.
* Application: Apply with a brush in an area of one square meter a thin layer of glaze.
* Start with one of the top corners, work down and to the side, careful not to put a lot of glaze in the corners and edges.
* Dar strokes in different directions to spread the glaze, without ending up in a single direction to prevent unions from being the end of work.
* Dotted surface: After applying the glaze over an area, take a brush to dot and beat her up and down the veil, to hide the brush strokes.
* As the glaze is deposited on the brush should be cleaned with absorbent paper.
* Mopping: While the glaze is cool, squeeze a piece of cloth and gently tap the surface, while still tacky. Go reestrujando and repositioning the cloth at different angles as they do the job, trying to form a random drawing. When the cloth is very dirty, use a new one.
* Continuation of work: Start the next piece of wall covering with glaze the edges of the party and worked, in this way ensures that the end joints are not.
* It is advisable to work with the tap and brush with a rag while the glaze is wet. It may take about 15 minutes to dry, depending on temperature.
* To prevent dry brush should be wrapped in a piece of plastic when not in use.
* Touch-ups: If the point is not uniform or patchy appearance, is to tweak it with a clean cloth.
* To standardize the effect, give a tap reversing the cloth, while the glaze is still wet.
* If the surface is dry you have to wet the cloth with a little glaze and drain on a piece of paper. It should work on the dotted surface, filling the gaps until the effect is uniform.
