SUMMERIZE YOUR HOME PHOTOIf you’re as busy as we know we are, it probably hasn’t dawned upon you yet that your favorite season is almost upon us. Summer is a just a couple months away and before you can bring out the lemonade jug, it will be here. It is a pity while being a sad reality that most of us don’t have the time to stop and smell the roses…truth be told, we don’t have the time to stop and do anything.

The world is spinning, but we are too and lives are jam packed with responsibilities and commitments. All but gone are the days when the hint of July meant packing up the house and kids and travelling to somewhere warm, sunny and full of fun. Fact is we’re so wrapped up in work and life in general, that we may not be able to spare the time, far less afford to do anything grand for summer. But just because you can’t go anywhere doesn’t mean you can’t bring summer to you!

The same way we batten down the hatches for winter and put things into storage, is the same way we can explode summery fun in the house and infuse our day to day lives with sunshine. Summer means relaxation and lolling about in warm, breezy comfort. Just because you may not be able to go anywhere, doesn’t mean that you can’t turn your home into  the summer sanctuary you can look forward to. Here are a few ideas you can juggle to summerize your home this year!

  1. At the very least, you’ll have a couple weekends to spare before the sunny season starts – why not make discounts work in your favor? By using discounts you can get from big home improvement chains, you can get paint, patio furniture, bedding and curtains to turn your home into a summer home! Lowe’s coupons and promotions for example, make it incredibly easy to get the things you need to spice up your space. Why not redeem them today and get a head start?
  2. After you visit the home improvement centers to get a little inspiration, why not make the jump and get a new set of dining ware? Summer screams fun in the sun – casual beach motifs or even plates and glasses in shades of yellow or sea foam blue can turn your usually stoic dining room into a summer feasting banquet. Clear or tinted oversized vases filled with layers of sand, pebbles and seashells or colored glass all bring a beach-y feel to your dining room. So when you serve your gazpacho this year, you’ll swear you were in Cancun!
  3. Turn your bedroom into a summery suite in a few simple steps! Get rid of cumbersome comforters and go for microfiber bed linens in sable, teal or daisy yellow. Brown cotton curtains definitely add a beach house appeal to any room and the bedroom’s no exception. Top it all off with some scented candles on the nightstand in summery fragrances like tropical pineapple and guava or sea spray and fresh cotton.
