Hydrangea is the name of a plant genus that includes about 100 species of plants from South and East Asia, North and South America. However, they are known by the common name of hydrangeas.

The hydrangea is one of the few plant species that accumulates aluminum, obtained from acid soils. By forming complexes in a flower, this aluminum gives the striking blue color can be seen in some varieties.

The most cultivated species are deciduous, and produce flowers from early spring until the end of autumn. Their colors vary according to soil composition, and can display shades of pink, white or blue.

Regarding the most important care, the hydrangeas are plants that support from part shade to full sun, appreciating also the soil moisture and good drainage. An adequate amount of organic matter will also help to develop correctly.
