Lavender: for Your Home

The scent of lavender soothes and cleans and works in many ways beneficial to humans.
If you get a lavender garden, with new and refurbished plants, summer is the ideal time to begin the task of cutting and planting semi-hard cuttings.
They are given this name because they are taken in summer, after the shoot growth, but before they ripen and become woody, namely that it hardens.
The time to do .- The cutting of shoots you do in the morning, because that is the time of day that are more fitted with water.
If you are planting them after making the cut, do it at night, because the concentration of carbohydrates promotes rooting.
Steps to follow .- The first thing to do is choose the stems. Agrees that are well developed, about 6-8 cm. The base has to be hard, but the end is tender.
Next, you must perform the following steps:
1. Make the cut. Do it below a node (junction between the main stem and other side, or between the stems and leaves). It is important that you do in that area, since it has a high concentration of nutrients that promotes root formation.
2. Removes inches from foliage. You must start up the lower leaves of each cutting to leave a short length of clean stem which will be buried in a container or garden.
3. It permeates the lower end with a rooting hormone (you can buy in shops and garden centers). The product will find it in powder, liquid or gel.
4. Make a hole in the substrate for each cutting and then plant it.
5. Water thoroughly. Make sure you always keep the soil moist.
